This clip features the entire use of sound and music for our trailer, including the soundtrack, voice-over and sound effects.
The soundtrack featured was made in Garage Band. The original soundtrack we used did not fit the feel of the film trailer we thought and so this is why we decided to create our own. The music was important because it needs to match certain segments of the trailer.
This is a screen recording of me creating the soundtrack for the film in Garage Band. To make sure that the sounds I used were appropriate for our film trailer I checked out existing thriller film trailers to contrast and compare.
Once I collected all the sounds I wanted for the soundtrack I went through different drafts of our film trailer to try and create a sense of pace with the music and match the sound to different clips where I could.
In this image I am ordering the sounds so that they all line up with each other.
In both of these images I am changing the levels of one of the tracks so that it transitions smoothly in to the next one. It was quite important that I got these transitions right so that it feels natural when in the actual trailer and the sound doesn't just suddenly change.
In these images I am just cutting up different sounds so that I can re-order them. The timing has to be exactly right, so that again the music doesn't suddenly change in the final trailer.
